Academic background:

I trained as a Clinical Psychologist in a range of therapeutic models at Sophia-Antipolis University in France. During my training, I specialised in adult and child mental health and attended specialist training in working with Families, Groups and Organisations in a Crisis Situation. I moved to the UK in 2004. Whilst working in Sutton & Merton IAPT service I completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at Royal Holloway University of London. I have extensive training and experience in providing evidence based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization (EMDR) and Reprocessing (EMDR- level 1, 2 and 3). From my time in IAPT I developed my skills further in the provision of Trauma Focussed CBT and EMDR to client with single and complex trauma. A special interest of mine is Mindfulness based cognitive therapy and I teach some of these techniques to clients.

During my clinical training, I worked in an Acute Assessment Team supporting the team of psychiatrists, social workers and nurses in the diagnosis and onwards referrals. I trained in a secure psychiatric hospital with a multidisciplinary team testing and treating adults and older adults individually and in groups. I worked in physical health services with patients diagnosed with HIV/Aids and carried out research in this field. I spent time in an Oncology Service setting up a psychology therapy service and provided therapy to patients, their families and offered support to the team. For several years I provided family therapy to families both in hospital and community based settings.

I have many years’ experience working for the NHS and I currently work in Primary care. I have contributed to the development of two IAPT services aiming to Improving access to psychological therapy. I split my time between treating individual clients, teaching and supervising staff. As part of my role in IAPT I helped to improve access to psychological therapy for older adults and attended specialist training in working with this client group. I also attended specialist CBT supervisors training and have supervised and offered training to staff. More recently I set up private practise in Surrey and I’m based in Ashtead and Leatherhead.
